IONOS review
The cheapest first year, and the steepest cliff after it · Founded 1988 · Germany
Our verdict
A large, long-established European host with genuinely cheap entry pricing — $1/month is not a typo. It is also the largest renewal jump on this site, and IONOS issued a further price adjustment in 2026. Cheap first year, expensive habit.
$204 over three years one term at the intro rate, then two renewals
- Refund window 30 days
- Uptime SLA 99.9%
- Readers rate it No reviews yet
What we liked
- Among the cheapest first-year pricing anywhere
- Large, well-capitalised European provider
- Free domain and wildcard SSL included
- A named consultant is assigned to your account
What we did not
- Renewal is roughly 8x the intro rate — the steepest here
- IONOS raised some renewal rates again in 2026
- Support reports are mixed
- No Asian datacenter
What it actually costs
checked 28 Jul 2026The advertised price applies to your first term only. Here is the same plan over three years.
For comparison, the cheapest renewal we track is MilesWeb at $2.28/mo — about $68.64 a year less than IONOS once the intro term ends. Whether that matters depends on what you get for the difference; read both.

Who it is for
A European or US site on a hard first-year budget, from someone who will diarise the renewal date.
The cliff
This is the largest intro-to-renewal gap on the site. IONOS also published a 2026 price adjustment affecting some existing customers, so the renewal you are quoted today may not be the one you pay.
What we could not assess
No testing of our own. IONOS runs its own datacenters, which is a genuine structural advantage we cannot quantify without measurement.
Reader reviews
Nobody has reviewed IONOS here yet
We do not write customer reviews ourselves, so this stays empty until real customers fill it. If you have hosted with IONOS, yours would be the most useful thing on this page.
- Which plan, and how long
- Resource limits matter more than brand name
- One thing that went right
- Be specific — "support was good" helps nobody
- One thing that went wrong
- The most valuable line in any review
- What you paid at renewal
- The figure we cannot verify without you
