Best web hosting in India

Hosting for Indian sites compared on the renewal price and the 36-month total, including which providers actually bill in rupees rather than converting at checkout.

Choosing the best web hosting in India involves a question the global comparison sites skip: what currency are you actually billed in? A host quoting dollars converts at your card issuer's rate on every renewal, so your rupee bill moves in years when the price does not. That is a real cost rather than a rounding detail, and it belongs in the comparison alongside the price.

Everything below is priced from each host's own page, with the date it was read shown on the host pages. We track 105 providers and have reviewed and scored 16 of them.

The short answer

  • Cheapest over three years, billed in rupees: MilesWeb, at the equivalent of $25.92 for 36 months.
  • Longest price lock: Hostinger — $2.99 held for 48 months, with an Indian data centre.
  • Steepest rise to avoid walking into: BigRock at 5.4× ($1.73 to $9.29).
  • If predictability matters more than price: Cloudways at $11.00 a month, which never rises.

Hosts that bill in rupees

MilesWeb

Prices in INR natively, so there is no conversion at renewal and no exchange-rate exposure at all. It is also the cheapest host we track over 36 months, at the equivalent of $25.92 — and the reason is the lock, not an unusually deep discount. Its entry rate holds for 48 months, covering the whole window most people budget for. Its renewal multiple, 3.2×, is ordinary for this market; what is unusual is that the rise lands after most people's horizon rather than inside it.

Refund window: 30-day. Indian support hours, Indian billing, and GST on the invoice rather than a foreign-transaction fee on your card.

BigRock

The other long-established Indian option, and the cautionary one. Its intro rate is the equivalent of $1.73 and it renews at $9.29 — a rise of 5.4×, among the steepest we have recorded — with the intro rate lasting only 12 months. Three-year total: $243.72, close to ten times MilesWeb's.

That does not make it a bad host. It makes it a host you should buy on a short term, with the renewal date in your calendar, and leave or renegotiate before month thirteen.

Global hosts with an Indian presence

These bill in dollars, so budget for exchange-rate drift and card fees on top of the renewal.

Hostinger

$2.99 held for 48 months, renewing at $8.99 — 3.0×. Three years: $107.64. The 48-month lock is the longest on this list and the main reason its real cost is low. Has an Indian data centre. Refund window: 30-day.

Bluehost

$2.95 held for 36 months, renewing at $8.99 — 3.0×. Three years: $106.20. Refund window: 30-day. Widely recommended largely because it pays well for recommendations; on our figures it is competitive rather than exceptional.

HostGator

$3.75 held for 36 months, renewing at $10.99 — 2.9×. Three years: $135.00. Refund window: 45-day, longer than most.

Where each host actually keeps its servers

For a site whose audience is domestic, a server in Mumbai or Chennai answers faster than one in Virginia, and on a checkout page that difference converts into money. Here is what each reviewed host publishes about its locations, uptime commitment, control panel and support channels — reported as published, because we have not benchmarked these ourselves.

The currency question, properly

Four things follow from being billed in dollars rather than rupees, and together they are worth more than most of the gaps between hosts:

  1. Your renewal amount is not fixed even when the price is. A 5% move in the rupee is a 5% increase in your bill.
  2. Your card probably adds a foreign-transaction fee, typically 1.5–3.5%, on every renewal.
  3. Refunds convert back at a different rate, so a refunded month can return slightly less than you paid.
  4. GST treatment differs. An Indian provider charges GST on the invoice and you may be able to claim it if you are registered. A foreign provider may charge nothing, leaving you to account for it under reverse charge if you are a business.

This site shows prices in rupees for visitors in India, converted at a rate we fetch and publish with its date beside every figure. You can change the currency from the selector at the top of any page, and the underlying figures are stored in whatever currency each host actually charges, so nothing is converted twice.

Payment methods, which decide whether you can buy at all

Indian providers accept UPI, net banking, and Indian debit cards as a matter of course. Several international hosts accept only cards and PayPal, and Indian cards are sometimes declined on recurring international charges under RBI's mandate rules — which surfaces not at signup but at the first automatic renewal, when the site is already live. If you buy from a foreign host, check that recurring payments work on your card before you depend on it.

Every reviewed host, ranked by what three years costs

Not by discount. On this market those two orderings are close to opposites.

Choosing, in order

  1. Decide your horizon. Under a year, buy the cheapest thing with a long refund window and ignore renewal rates entirely. Three years or more, price the whole term first with the true cost calculator.
  2. Decide whether rupee billing matters. If your income is in rupees and you dislike variable bills, that alone narrows the list to two.
  3. Check the data centre against your audience. Domestic audience, Indian location. Global audience, a good CDN matters more than the server's city.
  4. Then compare price — the 36-month figure, not the monthly one.
  5. Use the refund window as a trial. It is the only risk-free way to test a host, and it is the thing most people waste.

What we have not measured

We publish no speed or uptime figures for these hosts. Measuring hosting performance honestly requires an account on each one serving identical content; timing a host's own marketing site tells you about its CDN, not about the plan it sells you. Most comparison sites publish those numbers anyway. The method page is explicit about where our knowledge stops and what we would need to change that.

Common questions

Do I actually need an Indian data centre?

If your audience is Indian, it helps and costs nothing extra. If your audience is global, a single Indian location can be worse than a well-placed CDN in front of a US server. One factor, not the deciding one.

Does GST apply to hosting?

Indian providers charge 18% GST on top of the listed price. Foreign providers may or may not, depending on registration. Check whether the figure you are quoted includes it: 18% is larger than several of the gaps in the table above.

Is a .in domain better for Indian rankings?

Marginally, for local queries, and it constrains you if you ever expand. A .com with clear Indian signals — address, currency, language — generally performs as well domestically without that limit.

Which is best for an Indian WordPress site?

Usually the same answer as for any other site at that size. When paying ten times more for a managed platform is justified is covered in best WordPress hosting in India.

What about hosting an ecommerce store?

The same hosts, one tier up, and pay attention to the refund window and the support channel rather than the price. A store that is down costs more per hour than the annual hosting difference. See our WooCommerce ranking.

Is the cheapest option good enough?

For a small site, generally yes. What you buy at the bottom of this market is a share of a server and a place in a support queue; both are adequate until they are not. When to upgrade from shared hosting covers the signals that you have outgrown it.

Can I move later without breaking the site?

Yes, and most hosts will do it for you at no charge. The technical part is a database, some files and a DNS change, and the sequence that avoids downtime is in migrating hosting without downtime.
